Michael Vanhise was denied bail by U.S. Magistrate Judge Henry Pitman on Jan. 7 in a cannibalism case after a prosecutor said that he confessed to the FBI to that he planned to kidnap, rape and kill a woman with the help of a New York City police officer and that the plot was not just an Internet fantasy.

The 22-year-old New Jersey man was arrested Jan. 4 on charges for the gruesome plot with New York police officer Gilberto Valle, 28.

In two weeks, Valle will stand trial in Manhattan federal court with charges of planning to abduct, rape murder and eat women. Although the gruesome plan was not carried out, the suspects discussed the sordid plot in great detail online.

According to CBS News, Vanhise's attorney said her client tried to warn authorities of others that he fears might actually commit the gruesome crime he discussed.

The prosector, Assistant U.S. Attorney Randall Jackson, also said the New Jersey man had sent photographs of his 7 and 9 year old nieces and a 3-year-old step-daughter to the other people he was communicating with online about who the potential victims of their disgusting plan may be. The prosecutor also said that he had even put his potential victims on surveillance.

Vanhise had reportedly posted the photograph of his 7-year-old niece and suggested that she "could be kidnapped, could be eaten," according to Jackson. "He goes far beyond any fantasy." He also said that Vanhise tried to haggle with Valle to lower the fee of $5,000 to kidnap a woman from Manhattan.

Upon hearing the details from the prosecutor, judge Pitman decided that Vanhise's "abhorrent, disturbing, dark conduct" was a danger to the community. However, he acknowledged the defense's argument that the plot was a "fantasy world."

Vanhise's defense attorney Alice Fontier said that her client had gone to the police department in Hamilton, N.J., at least four times in the last two years to complain about the fantasy web site but that police had just brushed him off. The police on the other hand reportedly have no record of Vanhise reporting others involved with the fantasy web site.
