Is Alex (Chloë Sevigny) related to The Countess (Lady Gaga) in any way on FX's American Horror Story: Hotel?

Denis O'Hare Teases An Upcoming (& Pretty Significant) Sex Scene In 'AHS:Hotel'

Alex finally entered the Hotel Cortez during the third episode of the season and was startled to see her missing son Holden for the first time in years. And while she still has the capacity to leave the hotel, she will still find herself drawn to it like anyone else.

Sevigny recently spoke with Yahoo about Alex and why she will be drawn to the Hotel Cortez.

What's The Deal With Mr. March And Miss Evers In 'American Horror Story: Hotel'?

"She enters the hotel and leaves the hotel. She bridges both worlds for a little while, but everyone who enters the hotel gets drawn in in a way that is all encompassing and we set up the fact that Holden is the only thing that matters to her," Sevigny explained. "Her life, her child, her marriage has already fallen apart."

Fans have been speculating that Alex might be a great granddaughter to The Countess, given their similar facial features and recent photos of Gaga wearing a prosthetic baby bump on set. Could this be a big reveal later in the season?

"That's an interesting theory. To be honest, I don't know the end game yet," Sevigny admitted, in response to that theory. "I don't even know if they know. Maybe they do and they act like they don't so we don't bug them for details and it avoids leaks. There's a lot of secrecy in the world of American Horror Story. . . . I made my own theory, which I pitched to them when we started, but I am already way off. I could very well be related to her. Anything is possible in that world. I think we are more just kindred. You find out we have more in common than you might think."

There is a scene in the preview for next week's episode that has Alex and The Countess in the same room, with The Countess telling her, "The world can be such an evil place." There's no telling what The Countess might have in store for Alex.

American Horror Story: Hotel airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
