Alicia Keys is the new global creative director for BlackBerry, the company announced Wednesday on its website.

In Keys' newly appointed role she will work with app developers, content creators, retailers and celebrities for the revamped technology company.

Keys shared the news on Twitter on Wednesday, posting, "Excited2jump right in2my new role as Global Creative Director of@Blackberry! #BlackBerry10 #keepmoving #forwardthinking."

BlackBerry's President and CEO Thorsten Heins said the company is excited to work with Keys because "she believes in the product and technology."

"(Keys) subscribes to our overriding philosophy to 'Keep Moving:' to empower people through mobile computing and communications," Heins said in a statement. "We are excited she will be bringing to us her enormous capabilities, as well as a vast network of relationships in the entertainment, social media and business communities, to help shape our brand and grow our business."

BlackBerry's parent company Research in Motion Ltd. (RIM) unveiled two new devices in the BlackBerry 10 smartphone lineup on Jan. 30 after more than a year of delays. The company announced the touch-screen BlackBerry Z10 and the hardware keyboard-enabled BlackBerry Q10 at events around the world, including ones in London and Dubai. Retailers including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon said they will carry both devices.

Next up for the multi-Grammy-winning mother-of-one is setting off the festivities at Super Bowl XL VII by performing "The Star-Spangled Banner" in four days. It will mark Keys' third Super Bowl appearance and she will perform three songs, not just the anthem, which is the most amount of songs performed before the game in the event's history.

"Oh my goodness, I'm crazy excited about it. Being able to do the national anthem and actually set the whole game off is a dream come true. It's really exciting," Keys told MTV. "It's a historical moment, that day, so I'm looking forward to really doing it my style and my way, and I'm looking forward to really making it great."

Super Bowl XLVII will take place on Sunday, Feb. 3, in New Orleans, La. The game kicks off at 6: 30 EST/5:30 p.m. CST and will be televised live on CBS.
