Lady Gaga has been a big presence on this season of FX's American Horror Story, but does she deserve awards for her performance?

Why Lady Gaga Won't Let Tony Bennett Watch 'American Horror Story: Hotel'

Gaga stars in American Horror Story: Hotel as The Countess, the immortal owner of the Hotel Cortez. Her performance has been met with both praise and criticism from AHS fans and critics.

With this being Gaga's first major acting role, some believe she's still too wooden as an actress. Meanwhile, others think she has more than carried her weight on the show and created a memorable character.

Will Angela Bassett & Lady Gaga Face Off In The Epic 'AHS:Hotel' Finale?

Here are some of the latest reactions to Gaga's performance as The Countess via Twitter:

One organization that is a big fan of Gaga's performance is the HFPA, a.k.a. the organization behind the Golden Globes. They chose to nominate her for Best Performance By An Actress In a Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television, alongside Kirsten Dunst from FX's Fargo, Sarah Hay from Starz's Flesh and Bone, Felicity Huffman from ABC's American Crime and Queen Latifah from HBO's Bessie.

It remains to be seen if Gaga will win the Golden Globe - the ceremony airs Sunday, Jan. 10 at 8/7c on NBC.

It is also unclear if Gaga will return for season 6 of American Horror Story. Given her busy music career, it's possible that this season is a one-and-done for her. But AHS showrunner Ryan Murphy has extended an offer to Gaga publicly to return for season 6. While Gaga hasn't confirmed if she is returning, perhaps she's been bitten by the acting bug and will give it another go next season.
