The Downtown Abbey Michelle Dockery star paid an emotional tribute at her late fiance John Dineen’s funeral on Wednesday, where Dockery delivered a moving eulogy and sang a song that had been meaningful to the couple during their relationship, ET reports.

"I was honored to know John. To love him and be loved by him," an emotional Dockery said during the memorial, according to Irish Times. "He was my friend, my king, my hero, my everything. We celebrate him, we honor him and we will miss him."

Dockery, 34, and Dineen, 35, who was a London-based PR professional got engaged together last year having met in 2013. According to Irish Times, Dineen was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer just months in to their relationship and died in Marymount Hospice on the outskirts of Cork on Sunday morning.

Irish Times also added that the Golden Globe nominated actress who plays Lady Mary Crawley in the popular TV show, Downtown Abbey said, "Mr. Dineen was a tower of strength during the 15 months in which he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.:" Dockery described the native of Ballinora, Co. Cork as a man of “great depth and integrity.”

“John’s charm was legendary. He could persuade anyone to do what he wanted in the least pushy way possible. Particularly the women,” the star said. “ He had a presence that was electric when he came in to the room. He had a wicked sense of humour. He had a genuine interest in other people.”

According to ET, a private cremation service was held following the memorial, which included traditional requiem mass.
