Chatter On The Fate Of Francis On 'Reign'

On Friday, Carter Matt released a new synopsis for what's about to go down when the royal drama returns for new episodes. Following the death of Francis, Mary might have to wed again for the sake of the country. After she and Catherine overcome Prince Don Carlos's accident, she's going to probably have to wallow her feelings and wind up with someone she doesn't truly love.

Meanwhile, Mary is going to think Narcisse framed Catherine in order to become Regent of France when Catherine is accused of poisoning Francis. This will leave Lola in shock with questions on how this is going to result.

Is 'Reign' Going To Get Canceled?

Adelaide Kane (Mary) previously spoke with The Reel Spin on what could happen now that her character has no power in France anymore. She's going to try to help Catherine out since the two are living in a sexist era.

"These are politically volatile times," Kane said. "A lot of shifting alliances and shifting power in France right now, and I think Catherine could really use Mary's support as another queen and as another female ruler in such an incredibly misogynistic patriarchal time when people are trying to cut Queen Catherine down."

Whatever happens, it's doubtful that Catherine will go down without a fight.

Reign returns on Friday, January 8 on The CW.
