The Amazing Race is doing something it's never done before in its upcoming 28th season, and now one of the stars of a social media driven season is speaking out about his experience while filming the show.

Season 27 Winners Kelsey & Joey Are Engaged!

Tyler Oakley, who will be racing with best friend Korey Kuhl against other teams that are famous for viral videos, YouTube channels or other social media platforms, spoke with The Daily Dot about the new season, and dished on how the experience was different from anything he'd done before.

One thing Oakley assures he isn't worried about is how he'll look on TV once the edits are made to reduce the footage from the show into the content that airs.

Kelsey And Joey Dish On Their Win

"I'm not too concerned, to be honest," he said. "If anything, I hope that people will understand that this is a high-pressure situation. If they were in a  similar situation, they'd probably be frantic also. I'm really thankful I do what I do, because it's really prepared me to be conscious of how things can be spun, so I was always aware I had a camera or a microphone on me."

He also revealed how much being on a forced month long hiatus from social media was a nice change for him while he filmed the show.

"It was literally life-changing and perspective-changing. To come back and to get back into my work thoughts and remembering all the stressors I had from before the race, I was like, 'Why were those stressors? Why did some of those things matter?'" he said. "It was really eye-opening. I feel so recharged from that, and although it was one of the most challenging things, it let a certain part of my brain relax for a minute. That was really nice."

The Amazing Race season 28 airs in February.
