Elementary Sherlock will have a good reason to bid adieu to 2015 - the new year will introduce the intrepid investigator to a potential love interest.

Mr. Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) had a rough fall, but the spring is already looking up for Watson's (Lucy Liu) partner in crime. This January, Fiona Helbron (Betty Gilpin) will enter Sherlock's orbit, and Entertainment Weekly promises that she will stick around for at least two episodes.

A software engineer, Fiona is descried as "socially awkward" and "neuro-atypical," landing on the high-functioning end of the Autism spectrum. Initially, the pair may seem like polar opposites. Fiona "has a hard time reading people, rigidly adheres to rules, and can't lie" whereas we know Sherlock loves to break the rules, can spin a tale like no other, and can dismantle every facet of your life with one look. Despite this, Entertainment Weekly says the new acquaintances will be "kindred spirits."

Fiona will make her debut in "Murder Ex Machina" on Jan. 21.

"Holmes and Watson search for a computer hacker responsible for three murders, including the death of a Russian billionaire who was visiting New York City," CBS teased. "Also, Joan is surprised to receive a solo dinner invitation from Sherlock's father."

Sherlock airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
