'50 Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Emma Roberts & Ed Westwick Best Choice As Onscreen Couple?
Fifty Shades of Grey movie buzz continues to intrigue fans who are looking to transition their love of the E.L. James erotica to its future big screen version.
Amongst the slew of rumored candidates for the various roles, two more recently surfaced this week for the parts of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele - Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick and Scream 4's Emma Roberts respectively, which now begs the question if they'd make the perfect onscreen couple.
In a shocking poll conducted by Wet Paint recently Westwick was a fan favorite for the part of Grey, taking 43 percent of the vote.
The English actor overcame some serious competition in the process, beating out other notables including True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard, Henry Cavill of The Tudors and Supernatural's Jensen Ackles.
While Gossip Girl was Westwick's longest run on a single project, he's since gone on to star on the big screen. His most recent film is Romeo and Juliet, where he played the hot-headed Tybalt.
Mostly known as the rich New Yorker Chuck Bass that he played in the CW television series, Westwick could fit quite naturally into the role of Grey. Much like the billionaire character, Bass is very convincing as an emotionally unavailable man.
Another name that has come up recently is Roberts, 22, who clearly has the acting chops and look to pull off the part of Anastasia Steele.
At a New York City event last year, the nephew of Julia Roberts - who has made a name for herself on the independent movie scene - told MTV News that while she wasn't too knowledgeable about Fifty Shades, the highly anticipated part was one that she would be down for:
"Everyone says read 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' I don't really understand. But everyone on the plane was reading it, and I was like, 'I should probably just get it. I haven't read it, I don't even understand, but yeah, it sounds awesome. Anything racy, hot. Sure, let's get hot."
Roberts could make the perfect Steele, as she already has the dark mane to match, the innocent looks and is also around the same age.
The sexually dominated Fifty Shades of Grey premise revolves around the powerful, rich and kinky Grey, who gets himself involved in a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with the shy college graduate Steele. Through an "agreement," the two delve into the kinky world of bondage and masochism.
