The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are crossing paths in 2016!

What Have Been The Most Shocking & Best Moments From 'The Vampire Diaries' & Its Cast In 2015?

Back in November an executive producer from each series commented on the possibility of a crossover happening and now it has been confirmed that it will happen.

The Vampire Diaries returns to The CW on Friday, January 29, along with its sister show The Originals. The crossover won't happen until later on into their respective seasons, but it's on its way!

Caroline's Concerned If Julian Does What To Stefan's Body On 'The Vampire Diaries'?

TVLine reported Sunday from the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, California that The CW President Mark Pedowitz said, "You will see, organically, a crossover this year."

"Not of the size and scope of we do with Arrow and Flash. They have to make sense [story-wise]," the network's president added.

The crossover will begin during the fourteenth episode of The Vampire Diaries this season, in which Paul Wesley's character Stefan is "in need of a mystical safe haven" according to executive producer Julie Plec.

"And as we've seen on The Originals, there is a bar called The St. James Infirmary, in which no magic can permeate. So he goes to seek refuge in New Orleans and comes face-to-face with Klaus Mikaelson [Joseph Morgan] because, of course, nothing happens in Klaus' town without Klaus knowing. I call it the reunion of the Bourbon buddies," Plec further dished.

Plus, Stefan will stick around to appear on The Originals since he'll "help" Klaus out with something that "has a direct impact on Stefan himself."

Sounds interesting, right?

The Vampire Diaries will return on its new night, Friday, January 29, 2016 at 8 p.m. ET.
