'Vikings' Season 4 Premiere Date: Aslaug Has A Dangerous Question For The Seer In New Promo

The prince will feel the need to prove his Norseman mettle in season 4, and he will do so by weathering the Norwegian winter on his own. Bitter cold and blinding snow will only be half the problem, however.

"Both Ragnar and Lagertha, in their own way, had tried to keep Bjorn as a child, not respecting him as an equal," series creator Michael Hirst told Entertainment Weekly. "So Bjorn takes off into the wilderness to prove, both to himself and Ragnar, that he can survive in the most extreme conditions. He's in the interior of Norway, over a winter."

While there, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) will have a run in with a nine-foot bear. As shown in the SDCC trailer, the Viking will struggle to hold his own against his enormous foe (check out new photos here). Meanwhile, "other forces" will be mounting against him in the wilderness.

"Very, very nasty things happen to him," Hirst teased, according to TV Insider.

Vikings will return on Feb. 18 with "A Good Treason." The premiere will be followed by "Kill the Queen," "Mercy" and "Yol."

Vikings airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on History.
