The 35-year-old singer has reached through his social media account, Saturday, Jan. 23, after being arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge earlier this month. After breaking his silence, the singer finally issued an apology message towards his friends and fans for the first time since arrest.

“I am human and at times it can be a struggle to balance a healthy lifestyle,” Carter wrote. “I’m not perfect and for that I am sorry.”

Previously, the Backstreet Boys alum was involved in a drunken altercation at a popular Key West bar, The Hog's Breath Saloon, after a bartender refused to serve him. Per police reports, Carter and his friend were “highly intoxicated” and got aggressive, allegedly punching a bouncer. “When we fall we have to get up and keep on walking,” Carter added. “I hope you stay by my side and continue to walk with me.”

Meanwhile, his former band mate, A.J. McLean, also commented on the incident shortly after the arrest.

"Nick's dealt with his demons. He's a good kid," he said on The Kramer and Geena Morning Show. "He really has been on top of his game, between Dancing With the Stars and getting ready for fatherhood… He really is very, very level headed."

Though it has been a tough month for the Dancing With the Stars alum, McLean on the other hand wants what’s best for his former band mate after all a new chapter awaits for Carter on fatherhood and family life.

"You kind of have to laugh at these things, otherwise you're just going to mope around and hang your head low," McLean added. At the time, he hadn't spoken with Carter about the incident.
