Singer Morrissey pulled out of a planned appearance on the Feb. 26 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! due to other guests from A&E's Duck Dynasty who were booked for the show.

The former front man for The Smiths is a strict vegan who reportedly refused to share a stage with the reality TV family who sell duck hunting products.

A representative for the 53-year-old animal rights activist released a statement thanking the producers of the show for the invite, but said Morrissey could not "morally be on a television program where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests."

Morrissey's reps also stated that the singer would return to the show "if Duck Dynasty were removed."

A&E's Duck Dynasty TV show follows the Robertson family in Louisiana and its business selling duck calls and decoys.

The British singer gave his explanation about the canceled appeared to E! Online: "As far as my reputation is concerned, I can't take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers. If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty, then we must step away."

Host Jimmy Kimmel allegedly sought a compromise with the singer, which could have included taping his performance earlier in the week, according to Billboard.

Instead, Morrissey's appearance on the show was replaced with Denver-based band Churchill.

Morrissey is currently on a North American tour and was forced to cancel a few dates due to his hospitalization from a bleeding ulcer, according to Rolling Stone Magazine.

KROQ listed the upcoming dates for Morrissey that include a stop at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. on March 1.

The singer was able to get the facility management at the Staples Center to make his concert the first meat-free event it has hosted, according to CNN. The entire show will only have vegetarian approved food from vendors.
