Some new changes are about to happen on Call the Midwife, but with unfortunate results.

Could 'Call The Midwife' Stay On The Air For 50 More Years?

On Sunday, Carter Matt shared a synopsis of what's about to happen in the fifth season when medical advances start saving lives of mothers and their babies. But when a traumatic birth takes place, it gives Sister Julienne complications with something she can't quite figure out.

The world is changing with more educational opportunities, which applies well for Ian. He has the chance to get out of Poplar and attend a university, but this dream may not come true after all. Apparently, his girlfriend will get pregnant, leaving questions on what will happen next down this road.

Trixie and Tom are going to help out though as they get involved in the situation of what it's like to have an unplanned pregnancy.

Speaking of Trixie and Tom, things are going to be difficult for them as Tom starts seeing Barbara. In a report from Express, Charlotte Ritchie (Barbara) gave the impression that Trixie won't handle this so well since she might have to see her ex be with someone else right in front of her.

"She can't help but see him around," Ritchie revealed. "And we left Barbara and Tom in a place where they're not together and don't know what's necessarily going to happen with Trixie and Tom. So this interesting hint at the end of episode one stirs things up a bit."

Call the Midwife Season 5 is expected to premiere in the United States on Sunday, April 3 on PBS.
