A road near some ancient cottages has been coined Britain's most dangerous following  five car crashes occurring in the same spot in a span of just 12 hours.

The Daily Mail reports that families that resided in the cottages on the A371 at Evercreech, Somerset, had to deal with crash after crash on both Sunday night and Monday morning.

In one of the accidents, a vehicle landed in the garden of one of the homeowners while another car collided with one of the resident's parked cars.

Both Colin Brine and his neighbor Steve Cobbin are still left in wonder over as to why so many accidents occurred.

However, it was said that both the council and local fire department found nothing out of the ordinary with the strip of road.

The latest string of accidents started on Sunday night, which led to a woman being hospitalized after her car swerved off the dangerous road and ran into Brine's vehicle ultimately falling into Cobbin's nearby garden.

The unknown woman had to be transported to the hospital after she was cut from the car at 8:30 p.m.

Just minutes prior to that incident, another driver lost control of her car and also landed in the garden.

Cobbin, 53, said he'd seen numerous crashes outside his 300-year-old cottage in the 15 years since he'd moved into it.

"It was pretty scary to see five crashes outside the house in the space of 12 hours.  Once a lorry dropped its entire load of beer into our garden.  We laugh about it now but my daughter who is 12, is very scared by it and we don't go in the garden anymore," he told the U.K. site.

Brine said the circumstances have been nothing less than terrifying, and is hoping the condition of the road will be addressed.

"We have seen far too many accidents here.  I think when the road was resurfaced it affected the camber and it's easy to lose control,  We are just hoping the highways will do something about it," he said.
