Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were the musical guests on Saturday Night Live on March 2 for their first time ever and they performed Thrift Shop and Can't Hold Us.

Thrift Shop holds the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Digital Songs chart for seven weeks already and also reached certified triple platinum status with over 3 million records song, according to Direct Lyrics. The song's official music video on YouTube was posted in August of 2012 and already has over 135 million views.

Seattle-born Ben Haggerty, better known by his stage name Macklemore, tweeted about his excitement to be on SNL along with a photo from rehearsals for the show. He released his album The Heist in October of 2012 and it immediately reached No. 1 on iTunes, The Huffington Post reported.

Macklemore and Lewis are set to perform at the 2013 MTVU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas on March 14 during the SXSW Music Festival.

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart hosted Saturday Night Live on March 2 and in one skit, he dressed in drag to play 9-year-old actress Quvenzhane Wallis. The 32-year-old was introduced as new Pope Wallis, chosen to take over after Pope Benedict XVI stepped down. Hart even held the puppy purse Wallis is known to love, which she also sported at the Academy Awards in February.
