In a Champions League battle of two of the world's strongest football teams, Manchester United will go up against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

United must not get too carried away in trying to put a stop to former team member Cristiano Ronaldo upon his return to Old Trafford. The superstar was a member of the squad for six seasons after inking a deal from Sporting Lisbon, netting 117 goals in 290 games there. He went on to turn into one of the game's premiere performers in football prior to becoming a member of Madrid in 2009.

Since putting on the Real jersey for the first time Ronaldo has turned into even more of a standout on the field with 185 goals in a mere 184 games.

According to The Telegraph, United manager Alex Ferguson doesn't feel as though the second leg of the Champions League last 16 will be decided by the Spanish star's presence alone.

When queried whether he was concerned about Ronaldo garnering inspiration when he receives a reception at Old Trafford, Ferguson responded, "The biggest concern is if he turns up!"

"You know what to expect against a team with Ronaldo in and we have to try and curtail that. It won't be easy because he does it every week. It's not an accident with the lad," he added.

Ronaldo had taken to Instagram to admit that he 's excited about making his return to his former home field.

"I'm looking forward to return to Old Trafford. I've so many good memories there," he wrote. "It will be an exciting game and our goal is to win."
