According to an Autoblog report, one of the biggest man-mande explosions ever to have taken place in Iceland, will be staged and filmed for Fast and Furious 8.

Vin Diesel Confirms Fast 8 To Be Set In New York City? 

The report sources a Jalopnik update on the filming in Iceland, which reveals various heavily armored vehicles that have been taken to the set in Iceland and are expected to be part of an intense scene which might also involve the explosion.

The first time news of that parts of the Furious 7 sequel will be filmed in Iceland came in January. Collider sourced a report from the Iceland Review that suggests that the producers of Fast and Furious 8 have actually set their sight on Iceland to film some scenes.

Paul Walker's Character To Be Replaced By Brother, Cody, In Furious 7 Sequel?     

According to the report, residents of the town of Akranes were informed that part of the Furious 7 sequel will be filmed there. It was also revealed that the site for filming has also been picked -- around the harbor and the cement fields.

The mayor of the town, Regína ásvaldsdóttir, gave away some more details about filming. "The crew has plans to carry out the largest explosion ever in Iceland," she said, adding that the "residents are excited."

The main setting of Fast and Furious 8 was officially confirmed by Vin Diesel recently. The movie will be set in New York City, a much rumored fact that was made official by Diesel's posting a poster for the film with NYC in the backdrop.

Speaking of foreign filming locations for the movie, recently even Cuba was reported as under considered by the producers.

Variety reported that Fast and Furious 8 might be gearing to take those hot wheels to Cuba. An insider from Universal Studios spoke to the publication. "Universal Pictures is currently in the process of seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the 'Fast & Furious' series in Cuba," the spokeswoman said.

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
