She stole hearts as the runner-up on Ben Higgins' recently concluded season of The Bachelor, and many applauded the decision to make her the star of the upcoming segment of The Bachelorette. But a new report indicates that JoJo Fletcher was actually dishonest about her feelings for Higgins and only has her sights set on advancing her career.

Her ex, Chad Rookstool, the same one who sent her roses and a love letter in an attempt to woo her back during her hometown date, allegedly told In Touch Weekly that he and JoJo got back together almost immediately after she returned from filming her season—and that she ended things again when she got the idea she could be the next Bachelorette.

"As soon as she got home, we started hanging out every day and being intimate again," Rookstool allegedly told the magazine. "We were sneaking around the whole time The Bachelor was airing because she wasn't allowed to be seen with me. When she got home, she kept telling me she loved me and that we should have stayed together and fought through our issues. She said we would've been married by now, and I agreed with her."

However, he now says, when JoJo began hearing she could be the new star of the sister series, she ended things with him, with the promise that she could always return to him later, something he said he wouldn't let her do.

"JoJo said, 'I don't know if I'm the next Bachelorette, but let's just have a conversation as if I am,'" he said. "She tried to tell me she wasn't saying goodbye forever—but I told her that I'm not going to sit around and wait for her [this time], and that was it."

He also reveals that he's certain she only went on the show initially to help further her career, and saw an in because one of her brothers was friendly with a producer, and even alleges she faked falling in love with Higgins.

"JoJo told me, 'Chad, come on, you know it was TV,'" he said. "I think she just got sucked up in the show rather than actually trying to have legit feelings."
