University of Southern California (USC) quarterback Matt Barkley had his Pro Day Wednesday, where NFL scouts and front office personnel finally got an opportunity to watch the enigmatic prospect throw.

Barkley returned to college for his senior season and left millions of NFL dollars on the table as potentially the second passer off the board in last year's draft. Instead, his USC Trojans struggled through a surprisingly difficult season and Barkley saw his stock tumble out of the first round.

According to ESPN's Todd McShay, Barkley added four pounds of "good weight," ran a 4.88 40-yard dash and completed 55 of 61 passes. He completed 41 of his 42 attempts of 20 yards and under, which cemented the perception of Barkley as an extremely accurate short to intermediate passer. The move may make him more attractive to teams running precision-based West Coast offenses.

McShay wrote in his draft blog, "I thought Barkley had very good timing and his placement on short-to-intermediate throws -- particularly deep outs and comebacks to the boundary -- was excellent."

McShay also said Barkley had good velocity on his passes, allaying concerns of the shoulder injury that prevented him from throwing at the Combine in February.

Barkley's solid Pro Day performance is no guarantee that he will be taken in the first round, however. McShay said it is unlikely that the Chiefs will take him after trading for Alex Smith, and he doesn't grade high enough for a top-five selection. The Bills could be an intriguing fit as could the Jets, but McShay speculated that its unlikely the Jets would roll the dice with a high pick on a second consecutive USC prospect. From picks 10 through 32, the teams don't have pressing needs at quarterback.

It is worth remembering that despite not having a fantastic 2012, Barkley is one of the most storied quarterbacks in Pac-12 history. He is the Pac-12's career leader in completions (1,001), attempts (1,562), passing yards (12,327) and passing touchdowns (116), as well as the single-season touchdown leader (39 in 2011).
