Berserk is one manga that just likes playing with its readers. Critically-acclaimed and spawning a franchise that includes an anime series (with another set to begin this July), a number of movies and countless merchandise. Regardless of this, however, series creator Kentarou Miura has so far been pretty inconsistent with the manga's release.

It should be noted that Berserk features arguably one of anime's largest Universes and one of manga's most intricate plots. Indeed, the series has been going on quite literally for decades, and whenever the plot seems to build up to something very notable, the manga goes on hiatus. This has happened repeatedly, encouraging fans to fondly call the manga's erratic releases to the suffering of the franchise's protagonist, Guts.

With the release of a new anime series on July 1, however, Miura has once more decided to continue the manga's run in the Japanese publication Young Animal, a magazine that gets released on the second and third Friday of every month.

Despite the magazine's bi-monthly release, however, issues of Berserk are only going to be released once a month. Berserk is set to be resumed on the June 24 issue of Young Animal, which would feature a new chapter of the manga, as well as a reprint of the franchise's first-ever chapter.

This is not all, however, as the issue would also include a special, 100-page Berserk supplemental book which would include pertinent information about the franchise, especially the new anime that would begin its run on July 1.

Berserk initially went back for its monthly releases in July 2015. However, the manga was put on hiatus in December, when production for the new anime started. Though it was stated then that Miura would eventually continue the Berserk manga, the schedule of its release was initially deemed to be irregular at best.

With the most recent announcement, however, it would seem like Berserk fans who have been loyal to the series since its inception, are finally being thrown a bone. Considering the quality of Berserk, however, the wait that the manga entails is always worth it.
