Blake Lively does not want to give anyone the wrong impression about her upcoming movie.

The actress stars in The Shallows coming to theaters at the end of this month where she plays a surfer who gets stranded in the ocean with a shark surrounding her. This leads into an action-packed battle with the main character fighting her way to survive.

Even though her character battles a shark, Lively is very much a supporter of these animals.

On Wednesday, the actress took to Instagram to post a photo of animals that kill humans where sharks are listed in a low category. It appears that the main killer for humans are humans, themselves. Right after that is mosquitoes.

Lively wrote in the caption how everyone should be aware that sharks are actually not as dangerous as they come off in the movies.

"I guess mosquito movies aren't as scary?! Know the facts," she wrote. "We're forcing sharks into extinction with barbaric finning and ocean pollution. Separate fantasy from reality!! #SaveAShark #TheShallows."

Lively covers the latest issue of Marie Claire where she dished on the film and how it explains the concept of a shark coming so close to the shore.

"Because of climate change and global warming, what was once in the deep is now in the shallows," she said. "The danger with a film like this is that it taps into primal fear, but it can also unfairly villainize this amazing creature intrinsic to our well-being. They're one of most overfished creatures in the ocean, and it's important we protect them."

The actress also opened up on being married to actor Ryan Reynolds.

"I knew he would always be my best friend my whole life," she said. "That was the biggest thing to me. I'd never known anything like the friendship that I had with him. I could like him as much as I loved him."
