Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown, who was just hired to replace Sharon Osbourne as a judge on America's Got Talent, has lost a legal battle to appear on the show's Australian counterpart this week.

Brown lost the future gig amid a rivalry between two networks Down Under.

Brown, 37, also known as "Mel B" was given an injunction that prevents her from joining the judges' table of Australia's Got Talent due to her contractual obligation with a rival TV channel that puts out The X Factor, which she worked on in 2011.

Brown signed a contract with Channel Nine to appear on Australia's Got Talent and Seven Network took her to court stating that she breached her X Factor contract which states that she is unable to work for a rival show through 2013.

The case was heard at the New South Wales Supreme Court in Sydney where the judge granted Brown a temporary injunction and later extended the order to January, 2014.

Justice David Hammerschlag ruled, "Under the agreement, Mel has an obligation to provide her exclusive services to Seven, and Seven is entitled to her performance of this obligation. I see no reason why she should not be ordered to keep her word that she would not work for anyone but Seven in Australia in 2013."

The ruling prevents her from joining season 7 of Australia's Got Talent which is scheduled to begin filming soon.

A spokesperson from Seven Network released a statement on the judges' decision that ruled in their favor: "(The network) welcomes the decision of the court upholding its contract with Mel B and preventing her working for a competitor in breach of contract in 2013."

Brown was previously a judge on Australian version of The X Factor in 2011 and a co-host of Australia's Dancing With The Stars in February, 2012.

Entertainment Weekly reported in February that Brown will replace Osbourne in America's Got Talent next season. She will join the show's original judge Howie Mandel and Howard Stern.
