The tale of Kensi Blye will take a turn for the dramatic when NCIS: Los Angeles returns for season 8.

Daniella Ruah (Kensi) and Eric Christian Olsen (Deeks) stepped back in front of the cameras last week, but it wasn't to begin filming the premiere. Instead, the CBS drama blocked off eight days of filming for "additional footage." With Ruah's baby due this fall, it looks like NCIS: LA is packing in a few extra scenes to cover the actress' maternity leave.

Season 5 saw Kensi head to Afghanistan while Ruah gave birth to her first child, but this time around, the agent's problems will lie a bit closer to home.

"@DanielaRuah was absolutely sensational Day1-S8 #ncisla," executive producer John Peter Kousakis teased. "Kensi is challenged by a life altering condition. Never seen anything like this B4!"

The phrasing could indicate that the "condition" is medical, which makes us wonder if we were a bit hasty in writing off a season 8 Densi baby. For now, however, all fans can do is guess. Will Kensi find herself laid up in the hospital this fall, or do her problems stem from something outside the world of medicine?

Ruah discussed her pregnancy while speaking with Entertainment Tonight last month, but she handily avoided any statements regarding Kensi's impending storyline.

"I sort of gave [the producers] the news as we finished the season because it really is difficult to plan around something like this," Ruah explained. "They all just had a smile on their faces, [saying], 'We got this. Don't worry about it.'"
