A best man has stabbed the bride of his best friend to death in a horrific murder this week.

Jonathan Wayne Broyhill, 31, had served as the best man for Nation Richard Hahn's wedding to bride Jamie Kirk Hahn back in 2009.

However, the two best friends' relationship came to a halt when Broyhill stabbed his 27-year-old friend Nation who survived the attack and fatally stabbed Jamie, 29. He was charged with Jamie's murder and for the stabbing of Nation.

Hahn's devastated family released a statement after the tragedy.

"We lost a beautiful and loving wife, daughter and friend," the statement said. "We all lost a pure and brave spirit. She had a gift for bringing us together - black and white, young and old, gay and straight. She challenged us to work together for a better world."

The attack was reportedly a domestic-related attack but a motive for the stabbings has not be revealed yet.

Broyhill was reportedly invited to the pair's home for dinner on Monday evening. When Nation left the room, he returned to find Broyhill stabbing his wife. When Nation tried to stop him, he was also attacked and stabbed by him.

Jamie died due to her extensive wounds.

Nation expressed his grief on Twitter: "I lost my best friend last night. The sadness is overwhelming ... I want to thank everyone for prayers for Jamie. That type of community spirit defined Jamie. I have no idea what I am going to do without Jamie. She was my center, my rock and my soul mate."
