Although Apple's iPhone 5 is still considered a premiere smartphone in the tech market, the device must clearly evolve rapidly in order to keep up with the advancements of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One have up-to-date designs that made the iPhone look dated, according to ZDNet. The HTC One appears extremely appealing while the Samsung Galaxy S4 isn't too shabby itself, pushing the envelope in terms of its look.

While the Samsung Galaxy S4 doesn't compare to the hardware design of the HTC One, its software quality undoubtedly takes the cake over it and the iPhone 5.

The Samsung company has taken the Android to unprecedented heights in terms of its personal use. The S4 has improved upon its already impressive Smart Star function by adding several newer features, including Air Gesture and Air View.

Air View allows the user to put his or her finger close to the screen without touching it in order to trigger information.  Air Gesture works in a similar manner, as an individual can swipe through screens while hovering their fingers over the display.

The HTC One has some nifty features as well. Its BlinkFeed function allows users to scroll through information while they view his or her own pages by using the case of form meeting function.

Although Apple's iPhone 5 screen is larger and more useful, its decision to keep its narrow width display has been a controversial one, as a 5-inch Android phone gets the nod for seeing more info across one's screen.

All in all, the smartphone market will surely continue to remain highly competitive.  Apple may still be at a the top of the technological food chain, but its dominance clearly isn't what it once was.
