Is there any hope for Noah to work things out with his ex-wife on The Affair?

In a report from TV Guide on Tuesday, Maura Tierney who plays Helen on the Showtime drama, gave some insight on what could happen in the anticipated third season. She and Noah have clearly dealt with a lot of drama where it seems like there's no chance of them getting back together. While it's likely that Noah will move on since he's finding a new love interest, Helen likely still has lingering feelings.

"She does [want him back]," Tierney said. "She's not going to get him, I don't think. But she thinks it's going to be some sort of magical eraser of all the bad things that have happened."

This could potentially lead into something dangerous since Helen isn't fully over Noah. In fact, her feelings for him aren't even really love.

"For Noah, the marriage is over, and I don't think that there's even a lot of love existing there. For Helen, it's sort of turned into more of an obsession," Tierney said. "It seems like she's moved on. She has a new boyfriend...but really, the truth is, she's kind of desperately just holding it together. And she has developed a sort of obsessive need for her ex-husband. She feels like that's going to solve all of her problems."

In a report from Los Angeles Times, the actress opened up on a time when she said that an "exciting" change would be happening in the structure of the show. She actually backtracked on this since that won't be happening, at least not this season.

"That is not going to happen this season," Tierney said. "If we come back for a fourth, it might be implemented then. But I think they just decided to go a different way. This way is good too. I don't know that much. It was just going to be fun...it might still happen, so I don't want to say."

The Affair Season 3 premieres on Sunday, November 20 at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.
