Niantic is set to release the Pokemon GO Gen 2 update relatively soon. According to several news outlets, 100 new Pokemon will be released for trainers to catch. Let the games begin.

While Pokemon GO players are set to enjoy the brand new Buddy System soon, many fans of the wildly popular augmented reality title have been clamoring about one particular aspect of the game - the introduction of Generation 2 Pokemon.

The current iteration of Pokemon GO features the original 150 Generation 1 monsters, and due to the game's extreme popularity, numerous players across the world are coming close to catching them all. With this said, it is highly important for the game's developer, Niantic, to expedite the release of future updates.

Pokemon GO Generation 2 - 100 New Monsters

The second generation of pocket monsters introduced a number of new features to the franchise, the most notable of which are 100 new Pokemon that would be available for capture. Apart from this, Gen 2 Pokemon also include new aspects of the monsters such as baby Pokemon and new evolutions for Gen 1 creatures.

With regards to Pokemon GO, many fans are speculating that the game would most likely include all the new aspects of Generation 2 Pokemon into the game. This means that eventually, players would be able to hatch baby Pokemon, such as Pikachu's baby brother, Pichu. Though Niantic has not revealed any details about baby Pokemon as of date, there is a good chance that Pokemon GO would introduce them once the game explores Pokemon breeding.

Pokemon GO Generation 2 - Legacy Evolutions

One thing that really made Generation 2 monsters iconic is its introduction of new evolution lines for the game's original monsters. Thus, once the Pokemon Gen 2 update gets released, players with Slowpoke can evolve their Pokemon not only to Slowbro but to Slowking as well.

In fact, even Zubat and Golbat, two of the most common creatures available in Pokemon GO today, would enjoy yet another evolution. With the Gen 2 update, Pokemon GO players can evolve their Zubats and Golbats to the more powerful Crobat.

Niantic has so far been mum on the release date of the Gen 2 update, but nevertheless, many Pokemon GO fans are speculating that the all-important update might see a worldwide rollout sometime early next year.
