If there's one thing that Pokémon GO players are yet to see, it is the Pokémon GO Plus Bluetooth wristband. Announced together with the augmented reality game, the Pokémon GO Plus was supposed to be a device that would allow users to play the hit title without having to pull out their smartphones all the time.

Pokemon GO Apple Watch App Features

Now, just like the franchise's pocket monsters, it seems like the Pokémon GO Plus wristband has experienced a significant evolution, with Apple announcing that its Apple Watch 2, officially known as the Apple Watch Series 2, could be used to play the hit mobile game directly from the smartwatch.

During the Apple Watch Series 2 announcement, Niantic took to the stage and demonstrated how the app was used in the smartwatch. The Pokémon GO Apple Watch app is closely tied to the health tracking systems of the device, tracking how many steps a user has taken and showing information as to how far players have to walk further when hatching an egg.

Apart from these, the Pokémon GO Apple Watch app will also show valuable information such as the remaining experience points that are required before a user levels up. The Pokémon GO Apple Watch app would also alert users when a Pokémon is close by, or when players are passing by a Pokestop.

Playing Pokémon GO from a Smartwatch

The Pokémon GO app for the Apple Watch Series 2 is so ridden with features, players might end up pulling out their phones only when they actually need to catch a Pokémon. For the rest of the game's tedious tasks, the Pokémon GO Apple Watch app would be more than capable.

This is not all, however, as the Pokémon GO Apple Watch app would also show some pertinent information about the users' fitness level while playing the augmented reality game.

According to Niantic, Pokémon GO has already been downloaded by 500 million users, and since its launch, trainers have already walked a total of 4.6 billion kilometers. With the Pokémon GO Apple Watch app, these numbers will surely increase.
