Youth Hockey Fight Russia VIDEO; Two Teams Bench Clearing Brawl
Hockey is a sport known for brawling, but some Russian youth are taking it to a new level.
While Yahoo! Sports points out that Russian youth hockey fights have made headlines before - check out a compilation from a match between two teams of 10-year-olds from Moscow and Novokuznetsk last November - these teams' bench clearing brawl was entirely too much for refs to contain.
The video hit YouTube on Sunday and features footage of two teams at a tournament in Novokuznetsk, according to Yahoo! Sports. The competitors are all born in 2002.
While the refs handle the fighting decently when it starts at about 23 seconds in, the brawl soon spreads too fast for the two officials to handle.
After about a minute, the bench warming teammates swarm the ice, uninhibited by coaches or parents.
As the young skaters proceed to pummel each other, either in groups or more frequently one-on-one, the highlight of the video comes in at 53 seconds. A player from the blue team attempts to aid his teammate, who has been taken down by a white player, and succeeds instead in flipping over the tussling duo and landing on his head. Before he can regain his feet, an opposing team member pounces him on.
After the players fight it out for around two minutes, coaches finally take the ice in an effort to regain order.
