It has been announced that Huawei Mate 9 will run Android 7.0 Nougat as main operating system. Now, Huawei Mate 8 get an update for the same operating system.

Last year, the company launched the Mate 8 smartphone in November and that came with the latest Android pre-installed. A new Mate 9 phone, expected to be shown at the IFA technology show in September and released before Christmas, could well be Huawei's first Nougat handset. Huawei Mate 8 should receive Nougat in late 2016 or early 2017. As written in International Business Times.

As written in Tech Times, The update is available right now via Huawei servers; however, it has not been officially released. That means the update won't make it over the air, probably not until the Huawei Mate 9 has been released to retailers in the United States and other parts of the world.

The user can wait for updates to come automatically or can download manually now. Follow these simple steps. First of all download the update.zip and update_data_full_all_cn.zip from XDA Developer Forum here. Copy these files to external storage device. Now, download the stock firmware and use update.app to extract it. At last, download SRKToolHuawei-Lod-Chong-V2.0-20161002.zip and then unlock bootloader/TWRP/ROOT. Register the Huawei ID then generate a bootloader code.

    - update_data_full_all_cn.zip
  • After installing update_data_full_all_cn.zip, you can reboot Reboot System
Don't worry if you get a message that says "No OS installed"
  • Boot into the system and check the build number, it should show AL10C00B523.
  • Now, the phone is unable to detect a sim card, hence fast boot depends on the variant by SRKTOOL (support C636,C432,C185)
  • After Reboot, the phone should be able to detect the sim card (SRKTOOL Huawei).

In the case of any issue with the update, there are instructions in Forum to return to stock firmware.
