The marriage of Naya Rivera and Ryan Dorsey is as quick as their plans to get married. After just two years and a son, the couple decided to go their separate ways. Why did they come to such a decision?

Rivera filed for divorce from Dorsey last week, TMZ reported. The "Glee" star's lawyer stated that the actress is requesting for primary physical custody of Josey, her 1-year-old son with the 33-year-old actor. The request also comes with a clause allowing Ryan to visit their baby.

On Monday, Nov. 21, the estranged couple released a joint statement regarding their decision, People said. "After much consideration, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Our priority is and always will be our beautiful son that we shared together."

The former pair also mentioned that they will both take care of their son even after separating. In addition, just as every celebrity couple says after divorce, Both Naya and Ryan hope for respect and privacy for their family. The reason for the divorce is not disclosed to the public.

Rivera and Dorsey initially got into controversy after they surprised everyone when they got married on July 19, 2014 in Cabo, Mexico. This was three months after Naya's former fiancée, Big Sean, called off his engagement to the "Devious Maids" actress.

Although Naya and Ryan wedded after a brief engagement, or perhaps no engagement at all, the two already dated when the 29-year-old was just starting on "Glee." However, the actress wanted to focus on her budding career so they decided to end their relationship.

In Rivera's autobiography "Sorry Not Sorry," she confessed to undergoing abortion. A few weeks after the split with the "Blood Father" actor, Naya found out she was pregnant. She made a rash decision to terminate the pregnancy without informing Ryan.

Dorsey later found out about the abortion when Rivera was writing her memoir. The actor was supportive enough to accept what Naya had to do. "He said, 'In the short time that we dated, I wish that I could have done something to make you feel like you could have trusted me with that information because I would have loved to have been there with you," Rivera said of her now former husband.
