As the 2017 Royal Rumble event is 27 days away from happening, diehard fans are thrilled to know what are the matches that WWE have lined-up to start up their first main event of the year. Reports are saying that two match up could be a potential main event bout that evening. The rematch between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns while the other one is between John Cena and AJ Styles.

Having this two impending match, let's take a look who will headline the event and what each match can give to its avid followers.

Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns
As soon as the match between Owens and Reigns in WWE Roadblock last December 18 ended in a disqualification, Raw general manager Mick Foley announced the following day in WWE Monday Night Raw that Roman Reigns will have a shot again at the WWE Universal Championship against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble but this time with new rules.

According to FOX Sports, the new stipulation is saying that Owens best friend and confidant, Chris Jericho, will be hanging above the WWE ring in a shark cage during the match between KO and Big Dog to prevent him from interfering the bout. Jericho has always been the reason why Owens won matches just like what happened in the WWE Roadblock.

This time around, fans will see if Kevin Owens can really win and defend the title against Roman Reigns without Y2J's help. Will Reigns be the new double champion? Or will Owens have other tactics to prevent Reigns snatch the title from him?

John Cena vs AJ Styles
Before the year 2016 end, John Cena made a comeback on SmackDown Live and announced that he is challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Championship in Royal Rumble after winning the Triple Threat Match against Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin that night.

On a separate report by FOX Sports, Cena vs Styles could be 2017's early favorite to win the Match of the Year award. Both wrestlers have already fought in the Money in the Bank and Summerslam event by now prove that their bout is always electrifying and a guaranteed showstopper.

If Cena will win the WWE Championship he will cement his name as one of the greatest WWE wrestlers for winning the title sixteen times and surpass Ric Flair's record but if Styles win, his dominance to Cena will continue and could even make him the new face of the WWE.
