Orange Is the New Black officially has a release date for season 5, as well as a fascinating new teaser trailer!

Orange Is the New Black's fifth season will drop on June 9, Netflix confirmed today. This is in keeping with the show's regular mid-June release of seasons 2-4. All 13 new episodes are expected to drop at once.

Netflix also released a new teaser trailer for season 5 and while it doesn't tell us much of anything, it does tease the general vibe of the season: tension. The 14-second teaser gives us quick shots of various inmates, including Alex (Laura Prepon), Piper (Taylor Schilling), Nicky (Natasha Lyonne), Flaca (Jackie Cruz), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Lorna (Yael Stone), Cindy (Adrienne C. Moore), Maria (Jessica Pimentel), Red (Kate Mulgrew), Gloria (Selenis Leyva) and Daya (Dascha Polanco). All of the inmates are in a clear state of anxiousness or anger or looking affronted in some way.

In other words, there is little comedy to be had in season 5 based on what we've seen so far.

Brooks revealed on the E! red carpet at last week's SAG Awards that season 5 would take place over the course of three days, which seems much shorter than the usual span of a season at Litchfield Penitentiary. "You better get ready," Brooks said. "Get your popcorn, your tissues. I don't know when it's coming out because they don't ever tell us but sometime in the summer."

When the series last left off, a prison riot had broken out following the unintended death of Poussey (Samira Wiley). Daya managed to get hold of a gun and was last seen pointing it at the guards, with the show leaving things as a cliffhanger regarding what she might do.

The first four seasons of Orange Is the New Black are available to stream on Netflix now.
