America's Got Talent judge Howard Stern sat down for an interview with Katie Couric on Tuesday to dish about the new judges and the show.

The 59-year-old was the guest on Couric's talk show Katie for the full hour, a first for her show. The shock jock revealed his feelings about new judges Heidi Klum and Mel B in addition to why he joined America's Got Talent in the first place.

Stern joked that the other judges' opinion weren't relevant, saying, "It almost doesn't matter, Katie, as long as I'm there." He said he asked the producers why there were so many judges since everyone was really sitting there waiting for his opinion.

"When you go to court when you commit a crime," Stern said, "there's not four judges sitting there, there's one judge! Let me do it by myself!"

Stern soon clarified his statements: "Heidi's very glamorous, very sweet. Mel B's very direct. Howie's been great every season. He's sort of the elder statesman of the show."

He also gave special praise to host Nick Cannon.

"Ryan Seacrest, you have nothing on Nick!" he said, calling out the 12-year host of American Idol.

Stern later played judge to Couric's staff in a mock Katie's Staff's Got Talent competition.

In other America's Got Talent news, the talent show released a new promo video for the upcoming season. Though the 2½-minute clip does not feature new footage for the show, it emphasizes the chemistry between Cannon and the other four judges.

Cannon sings a rendition of Living in America by James Brown after marching through a crowd of colorfully dressed performers.

The host gets a kiss from Klum, a high-five from Mel B, and a special handshake from Stern before stumbling upon a naked Howie Mandel, who holds a potted plant over his private parts. The promo first aired during Tuesday night's The Voice results show.

America's Got Talent will premiere on Tuesday, June 4 from 9 p.m. - 11 p.m on NBC. Howie Mandel debuted a clip from the new season during his latest visit to Jay Leno's late night talk show.
