Aerosmith, James Taylor & Jimmy Buffett Join Boston Marathon Bombings Benefit Concert [WATCH ONLINE]
Aerosmith, James Taylor and Jimmy Buffett will join other artists for a benefit concert for victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, held on Thursday.
Tickets for the show scheduled to take place at the TD Garden sold out in minutes after they went on sale May 6. Proceeds will benefit One Fund Boston, a fund established by Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino to help those injured in the April 15 bombings and the families of the three people killed from the explosions.
Other confirmed acts include Jason Aldean, Boston, Extreme, Godsmack, The J. Geils Band, Carole King and New Kids on the Block. Comedians Dane Cook and Steven Wright will also be at the event.
Billboard.com will be streaming the concert live starting at 7 p.m. ET.
Speaking recently about the event with The Boston Herald, Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler said, "For [guitarist] Joe [Perry] and the rest of us, it means everything to...play this show...When you're listening to songs, it builds hope and strength. We want to warm the cockles of people's hearts."
Bassist Tom Hamilton added, "We will be feeling the gravity of the moment, but our job is to get up on stage and make people feel good."
"I cry when I go in to play the Garden on a regular tour, but this night is going to be unlike anything we've ever done," New Kid Donnie Wahlberg said. "This was one of the darkest events in the history of our country. That it was our streets made the impact on us even greater."
