Is Microsoft finally going to launch the Surface Pro 5 this February 2017?
The technology giant has always been secretive when it comes to new devices and launches. The Surface Pro 5 is no different as Microsoft has been tight lipped about any development. However, launching the predecessor of the Surface Pro 4 is already high time since the device is already more than a year old.
Fortunately, there are still rumors and speculations pointing to the imminent release this 2017 of the best 2-in-1 PC Tablet, the Surface Pro 5.
Release Date
It has been earlier speculated that the Surface Pro 5 will be unveiled during Microsoft's October 2016 event. However, the event started and ended with only the Surface Studio being introduced to the public.
As reported by Phone Arena, the Surface Pro 5 will most likely be released to the public around March to April this year. However, the announcement of the device will likely to happen earlier, during the Mobile World Congress this February 27 to March 2.
Microsoft has also supposedly committed a blunder with the release of an image of the new device in its French website. This further fuels the speculations that the launch may be nearer than expected.
Windows 10 Creators
A first quarter release is also fueled by the fact that Microsoft will be releasing an update to its Windows 10 Creators around this time. The Surface Pro 5 is speculated to run on Windows 10 Creators.
Intel Kaby Lake Processor and 4K Resolution Display
The Surface Pro 5 will most likely run on Intel's newest seventh generation chipset, the Intel Kaby Lake Processor. Take note that the one-year-old Surface Pro 4 already runs on Intel's sixth generation chipset.
Moving up to Intel Kaby Lake will also make 4K resolution display possible for the Surface Pro 5.
Upgraded Surface Pen with Wireless Charging
According to Digital Trends, Microsoft already has a patent for the wireless charging of a pen (Surface Pen). Thus, it will no longer be a surprise if the Surface 5 will have an upgraded Surface Pen capable of charging wirelessly.
Price
The Surface Pro 5 price is speculated to be around $1000.
