(Update 11:32 p.m. EST) More than 50,000 customers were without power by early Friday evening in the Oklahoma City area after the storms and tornadoes, according to the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co., CNN noted.

Violent tornadoes hit Oklahoma City and the Moore suburb on Friday evening killing five people including a mother and her baby.

The mother and her baby were killed while traveling on Interstate 40, according to Newsok.com. It left semis and cars overturned on the highway. Governor Mary Fallin reported that so far, 5 people died in Oklahoma from today's storms, according to a report by The Weather Channel at 9:24 p.m.

At least another 14 people were injured, CNN reports citing Brooke Cayot of Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Oklahoma's suburb Yukon. Three of them were in critical condition, according to the report.

The tornadoes touched during the evening rush hour flooding the highway and making it difficult for emergency crews to arrive to the damaged areas and assist victims.

Tornadoes were reported outside Moore (who was recently hit by deadly tornadoes), near the suburb of Bethany, north of Union City and outside Tinker Air Force Base, according to CNN.

"There were some smaller tornadoes that occurred with some of the storms today, but the primary tornado, the one that produced the bulk of the damage, was the one that occurred out in Canadian County and weakened as it came into Oklahoma County," Meteorologist David Andra told NewsOK.com.

"Based on radar estimates we are looking at a time around 5:55 p.m. for the start of what was the primary tornado. It started in rural areas that are on the southwest side of El Reno. It tracked initially southeast and east and then turned northeast crossing Interstate 40 to the west of Yukon," he added. "We think it probably crossed there about 6:35 or so. That's where we're hearing about some of the injuries and other impacts there. And then it moved into far west Oklahoma City and was weakening at that point."
