Gwen Stefani wasn't entirely confident in returning to The Voice for season 12 this spring.

Stefani returned as a coach for season 12 of The Voice, joining Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and her boyfriend, Blake Shelton. The stylish singer appeared at the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday where she told Entertainment Tonight what it was like returning to coach while dating a fellow coach.

"I feel like when we were coming back this season, I was a little nervous," she said. "I was like, 'This is going to be weird!' But, you know, the show is so real. All it is is us just being there and being us. So, it's been really fun."

Stefani isn't regretting having her personal life at the forefront, as she welcomes any time she can spend with Shelton, who she has dated since 2015.

"Obviously, any time I can be around Blake is a blessing," she said.

The Voice has frequently brought up Stefani and Shelton's romance during these first few episodes of season 12. Stefani even sat in Shelton's lap at one point, as a contestant chose him to be their coach. Shelton then asked Stefani if he was in trouble, to which she exclaimed, "I pick Blake, too!"

Shelton and Stefani started dating during season 9 of The Voice in late 2015, though their relationship was not highlighted anywhere near as much as it is now. While Stefani took off season 10, she did return at one point during the season to sing their romantic duet "Go Ahead and Break My Heart". The performance featured the two coaches locking eyes with each other and barely acknowledging anyone else.

Their romance began after both went through public divorces - Stefani divorced from Gavin Rossdale while Shelton divorced from Miranda Lambert.

The Voice season 12 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
