Contrary to what most social media are sharing, Megyn Kelly wasn't fired by NBC. Rumors about the 46-year-old who left Fox News Channel have roamed online and sadly, it's quite embarrassing. According to the hearsay, she was fired by the network before she has even started.

Basically, it's Twitter who has started the fiasco. The social network claimed that Megyn Kelly was fired by NBC, making Elisabeth Hasselback take her position. Unfortunately, it took a while until they found out that the rumor only stayed as a rumor. Fake news, indeed!

As Snopes cited, a fake news made round this early March with an NBC Universal executive announcing that Megyn Kelly was replaced by Elizabeth Hasselback. The made-up quote says: ""Elizabeth was thrilled to take over the afternoon slot Kelly was fired from. She's perfectly happy to be our version of Kelly Ripa and shows no interest in being taken seriously," the fake NBC Universal CEO Maxwell Seawald said. "Since her time as the cute pigtailed girl on Survivor she's always loved being an entertainer. Her time on Fox sealed that. She was the eye candy on the couch at Fox and friends and she'll do very nicely in the same role on 'Elizabeth'."

What weakened the rumor is that there's no such executive under the name of Maxwell Seawald, instead, the CEO of NBC Universal is named Stephen Burke.

Megyn Kelly is assumed to begin her new job this fall on NBC after leaving her previous job at Fox News once her contract ended. The American journalist is one of Fox' female employees who stood up against the alleged sexual harassment of its former chairman Roger Ailes.

Nevertheless, as Long Beach City College Viking reported, Megyn Kelly's fan can now guarantee that the famous journalist wasn't fired on NBC at all.

Are you happy to know that Megyn Kelly's rumor is nothing as fake?
