In Sunday's premiere episode for season 5 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Teresa Giudice and her husband, Joe Giudice, continued their ongoing feud with in-law Melissa Gorga.

Teresa had so much contempt for Gorga that she let her daughter write text a message for her, on her behalf. In the same episode, Teresa's husband also called Gorga a "horsey face," "stink ass" and "beyotch."

Teresa's cousin and fellow TRHONJ star, Kathy Wakile, said in an interview that she does not think it's a good idea for the kids to be a part of her drama with the Gorgas.

"I can only speak from how it made me feel and how those situations have arose in my own family unit," Wakile told Radar Online. "You need to treat them well. If they're good to you, you're good to them. We'll totally stress to my kids, 'This has nothing to do with you. Do you understand? Nothing to do with you.'"

Wakile said she puts a ban on letting her own children get involved in her affairs with other adults. She tells her kids to "respect your aunt and uncle."

Wakile said she does not let her kids meddle in her personal problems. She explains to her two kids that there are certain issues that have nothing to do with them, and that the drama should not "cloud your feelings."

" 'I'm a big girl; I can handle myself,'  and Daddy's a big boy; He can handle himself,' " she said she tells her children. "You don't need to fight our battles or you don't need to come in and feel like you need to speak for me.'"

"I will encourage that forever," she added. "They are their own people and I am my own person. My child certainly doesn't need to speak up for me."

Teresa appeared on Watch What Happens Live an hour after the premiere episode of TRHONJ aired. Host Andy Cohen played the clip of when her husband called Gorga names. When he asked Teresa to explain Joe's name-calling, she defended him and said, "Joe was kidding."

Season 5 episode 2 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs June 9 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
