UFC 161 Results: Rashad Evans Defeats Dan Henderson
Marking the first UFC fight to take place in Manitoba, Canada, UFC 161 saw Rashad Evans beat Dan Henderson in the headlining match.
The preliminary card featured 6 matches, the first two of which could be viewed on Facebook and YouTube. To start the night, bantamweight competitor Yves Jabouin took opponents Dustin Pague three rounds before claiming victory with a split decision and scores of 28-29, 29-28, 29-28. Jabouin's win was followed by a three round match between Mitch Clarke and John Maguire. Following a unanimous decision and a 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 score, Clarke was proclaimed the winner of the lightweight bout.
Airing on FX, the last four matches on the preliminary card all went three rounds. Roland Delorme defeated Edwin Figueroa in the bantamweight class with a unanimous decision and a score of 29-28, 29-28, 29-28. Welterweight competitors Sean Pierson and Kenny Robertson finished with a score of 29-28, 29-28, 28-28 and a majority decision places Pierson as the victor.
Continuing with the preliminary card, James Krause was the first competitor of the night to win his match due to submission. Lightweight fighter Sam Stout went down 4:47 minutes into the third round due to a guillotine choke. Lastly Jake Shields defeated Tyron Woodley in the welterweight class following a split decision with a score of 27-30, 29-28, 29-28.
The pay-per-view main card matches began with heavyweight Shawn Jordan defeating Pat Barry with a technical knockout in the 59 second of the first round. The only female bantamweight fight of the evening took place between Alexis Davis and Rosi Sexton, which Davis won by unanimous decision and a score of 29-28, 29-27, 29-28 after three rounds. Light heavyweight fighter Ryan Jimmo also went three rounds before defeating Igor Pokrajac in a unanimous decision with a score of 30-27, 30-27, 30-27.
In the first of the two most anticipated fights of the evening, heavyweight Roy Nelson took on Stipe Miocic. After three rounds, Miocic took victory in a unanimous defeat of Nelson with a score of 30-27, 30-27, 30-27.
The final battle between Evans and Henderson closed out the night. After three rounds, light heavyweight fighter Evans triumphed over Henderson following a split decision and a score of 28-29, 29-28, 29-28.
