Revenge star Emily VanCamp put aside her deceitful character Emily Thorne to play a different role in the upcoming film The Girl in the Book.

Filming in New York City, photos from set were posted online by one of the film's actors, Jordan Lage. In the pictures, VanCamp sits behind a desk and looks to be working on something in an office set to perhaps resemble a literary agency. In some photos Vancamp also wears rimmed glasses.

The Girl in the Book is written and directed by Marya Cohn, marking her directing debut. It is expected to come out in 2014, according to IMDb.

The film centers on the daughter (VanCamp) of a powerful New York City literary agent who is forced to confront events in her past when asked to work on the re-release of a best-selling novel written by her father's star client. She must face difficult memories so she can find love and rediscover herself and her talents as a young writer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Michael Nyqvist (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) co-stars as the author.

"The Girl in the Book is a deeply personal story about a young woman who reclaims her body, her voice and ultimately her power," Cohn said. "I intend for her victorious spirit to offer hope to all those with troubled pasts who must rise above them to live fulfilling lives."

A clip from the film was released recently.

VanCamp also stars in Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, slated for an April 2014 release. Filming for season 3 of Revenge will officially kick off on July 15, actor Gabriel Mann (Nolan Ross) confirmed, and one of the show's writers tweeted that pre-production on the series is scheduled to start on Wednesday.
