Ellie Goulding released her new song Burn via Twitter on July 4.

"Casual drop, here's a link to my new single," she tweeted.

"When the lights turned down, they don't know what they heard. Strike the match, play it loud, giving love to the world. We'll be raising our hands, shining up to the sky," are some of the song's lyrics.

Fans who enjoyed the track responded with positive tweets.

"It sounds amazing!!! Been listening to nothing else all day," wrote a female user who also has a photo of Goulding as her Twitter backdrop.

"Oh my only you could leak your own song. It's perfect," wrote another.

The song, produced by One Republic's Ryan Tedder, will appear on the rerelease of her 2012 sophomore album Halcyon. The rerelease, Halcyon Days, will feature seven new songs including, Stay Awake and You, My Everything. The latter premiered on the British TV show Skins on July 1. Listen to the tune here.

The album is expected to hit stores on August 26, according to the singer's website. It will include collaborations with Madeon, DJ Fresh, BURNS and Fun's lead singer Nate Ruess.

Halcyon, which peaked at No. 9 on Billboard, is the follow-up to her 2010 album Lights. Her debut record only peaked at No. 21 on the charts.

Goulding spoke about her sophomore album with GQ in 2012 and said it was shaped by her break-up with Greg James, a BBC Radio 1 DJ.

"It was inevitable. I find it hard to not write about things that happen to me. In any relationship, you can't predict anything," she said. "Like, I met someone else [DJ and producer Skrillex] - I could never, in a million years, have predicted that."

When asked if the subjects of her songs take offense, Goulding said, "No, if you're with an artist, that's what it is. When I was with Greg, I'd write certain things about him."
