Jay-Z 'Dead Presidents 3' Debunked in Twitter Rant [LISTEN]
Fans can't seem to get enough of Jay-Z's music, even with yesterday's release of the Brooklyn rapper's 12th solo album, Magna Carta Holy Grail: during a rare Twitter Q&A with his fans on Monday an inquiry was made about Mr. Carter's storied and cryptic Dead Presidents 3 song.
Jay-Z, seemingly riding off the spontaneity of his social media dialogue, the 43-year-old mogul instructed long-time collaborators, producer Just-Blaze and engineer Young Guru, to release the track to the public.
Unfortunately, the mythical Dead Presidents 3 turned out to be just that--a myth. According to Just Blaze, the track has essentially been released. The producer said two of Jay-Z's verses from the song were used for another record and the third verse was featured on a DJ Green Lantern mixtape.
While many remember the verse from the mid 2000s, when DJ Green Lantern was a household name on the mixtape circuit, a newer generation was able to discover the verse for the first time. On the mid-tempo beat, which borrows sonics from the original Dead Presidents off Jay-Z's debut Reasonable Doubt, the Brooklyn emcee crafts his typical rag-to-riches themes with pristine lyrical devices.
"Handlin' since a teen/ like LeBron or Sebastian /High school graduates, straight to the league /I ain't waitin' for my knee to blow /Yesterday I was needin' this dough /Get it, I was kneadin' this dough?" Jay-Z raps.
The Twitter user with the handle @Jordan J Clemons, who inquired about Dead Presidents 3 during the rare dialogue, was one of several fans on the social media site who were able to get up close and personal with the hip-hop business mogul.
Jay-Z also revealed his favorite cereal is Captain Crunch and his favorite movie is The Godfather II during the open-format conversation with his fans.
