The film adaptation of E.L. James' 50 Shades of Grey just got another contender in its prospect pool for the role of the S&M-crazed billionaire Christian Grey in On The Road's Tom Sturridge.

According to Marie Claire, the 27-year-old Brit is considered to be "the hottest name on Hollywood lips right now," and could potentially be a good fit for the erotic part.

With his rugged good looks, and his popularity stock rising, Sturridge just may be the man for the job. If the actor were attached to such a groundbreaking role, then it would surely serve to boost his career even more so.

While Sturridge is clearly a hot commodity on the movie scene at the present moment, he would clearly have his work cut out for him in terms of stacking up against what appears to be the top Grey competition in Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder, White Collar's Matt Bomer, and Man of Steel's Henry Cavill.

50 Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who's nearly finished writing the film script, stated that it would be adhering to the content of James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. Producers are reportedly aiming for an NC-17 rating, according to Style magazine.
