Taylor Swift was forced to cancel a fan contest, after falling victim to an online prank.

Swift hosted a Web contest with Massachusetts radio station Kiss 108 FM offering one lucky fan the chance to meet their idol. But the competition was canceled after users of 4chan.org and Reddit.com teamed up to sway the voting in favor of a 39-year-old entrant named only as Charles Z, described as a "creepy 39-year-old [who] would like to crush all those little girls' dreams."

During the contest, jokesters swayed a vote to help a 39-year-old man win a meeting with the 22 singer.

A statement from radio station reads, "Disappointingly, we have determined that the integrity of the Taylor Swift's Biggest Fan contest has been compromised. In accordance with our contest rules, effective immediately, the contest has been terminated. We apologize to all of our loyal listeners who have participated."

Swift was previously targeted in a similar scheme when pranksters tried to rig a competition offering a performance from the star at a school. The contest's rules were rejigged after jokers swayed the votes in favor of sending her to sing for deaf students.

Earlier this week, Swift took to Twitter on Monday to post a sweet message to gal pal, Selena Gomez on her 21st birthday.

"Happy 21st birthday to my friend, and the closest thing I've ever had to a sister, @selenagomez!!" Swift posted along with an adorable picture of the BFFs.

Gomez had plenty to celebrate. The Come & Get It singer's new album Stars Dance was released Tuesday and quickly climbed to number one spot on the iTunes chart.

"#1 AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" Gomez tweeted to her more than 15 million followers.

"I am still in shock, I cannot even believe it right now. I love you guys so much, THANK YOU!!! Now let's party!!!" she wrote on her Facebook page.
