A marshal arrested a Nevada woman in family court moments after she claimed the officer performed an inappropriate search on her in a courtroom chamber.

8 News Now reported that Monica Contreras went to the Clark County family court with her 2-year-old daughter in August 2011. She was in the courtroom briefly on a routine divorce case. As Contreras was leaving, marshal Ron Fox ordered her into a waiting room for an unexplained drug search. When they returned to the courtroom Contreras complained to hearing master Patricia Donninger that her request to have a female officer perform the search was ignored by Fox and that he touched her inappropriately and asked her to lift up her shirt. Fox responded by asking his colleague Marshal James Kenyon to arrest Contreras "because of false allegations made against a police officer."

Contreras continued to plead to Donninger, but the judge ignored her and instead chose to play with Contreras' daughter. With the threat of jail time, Contreras initially capitulated and said her accusations were false. Fox said she could only avoid prison if she stepped up to a microphone in the court and recanted her statement. But Contreras choose to stick to her original claim.

"You put me in a room. You asked me to lift up my shirt without a witness," Contreras said into the microphone.

Fox again instructed Kenyon to "take her to jail." Contreras pleaded for her release for four minutes, all the while being ignored by Donninger, who was still playing with Contreras' daughter. Finally, Contreras was handcuffed. She kissed her 2-year-old goodbye before being taken to jail. Her daughter was sent to Child Haven.

Two months after the incident Contreras filed a report with the Court Marshal Internal Affairs. Several employees and managers at the Clark County family court are now under investigation for allegedly concealing the sexual assault. Fox has since been fired.
