The Fifty Shades of Grey movie chatter continues to dominate the web at an astounding rate, as fans speculate just who'lll ultimately land the coveted role of the S&M-crazed billionaire Christian Grey.

One of the names that has seemingly fallen through the cracks as of late is Jake Gyllenhaal. While the actor, 32, is considerably older than the 27-year-old character, he clearly has both the physical features and face that many women wouldn't be opposed to seeing in an erotic role.

In September 2012, Gyllenhaal had dished about the prospect of playing Grey on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show.

"That's super flattering. I mean, I have not heard that, but if that's true then that's a nice thing. It's always nice to be considered," he said.

While the movie itself would be a far cry from some of his notable flicks such as Jarhead, he indeed has the acting chops to pull off such a role. To top if off, he would be playing the older lover this time around, which would be different from his work on The Good Girl, where he got hot and heavy with Jennifer Anniston.

Fifty Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who's currently in the process of refining the script, said that she would be sticking to the content of James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. Only time will truly tell who ultimately will become the next Grey.

The highly anticipated flick is scheduled to kick off on the big screen on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2014. Be sure to check back for more of the latest info on the erotic film. A Gyllenhaal appearance on The Graham Norton Show can be viewed below.
