Johnny Depp has been canceled for his behavior, but John Waters became one of the most recent personalities to defend the actor.

Depp received several damaging nicknames after his divorce from Amber Heard - from wife-beater to abuser. More and more people let him down and cut him off from his projects, but there are still some people who believe that the actor never became what people claimed.

Depp's former director, John Waters, recently broke his silence about the actor's alleged abuse toward women. The duo previously worked in the 1990 comedy film, "Cry-Baby," and the director never witnessed or experienced Depp's reported bead behavior.

In a new interview with The New York Times (via NME), Waters said that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star never saw what people claimed about him.

"There are people I would like to cancel, but at the same time I'm saying it humorously. I'm not going to go through each person who's been cancelled and say what I think, but I never saw Johnny Depp act negatively to a woman in my entire life - and I did drugs and got drunk with him," he said.

Waters shared how he believes that every artist would be canceled retroactively. But he still exempted J.K. Rowling from that statement.

According to the director, he would cancel the "Harry Potter" creator for being transphobic.

Depp received support from Waters months after grabbing a new milestone after Christian Dior announced its continued partnership with him amid his franchises' cancellations.

The "Fantastic Beasts" actor himself also once talked about the cancel culture in an interview.

Johnny Depp Says He Is a Victim of Cancel Culture

Before receiving his Dostia Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival, Depp spoke candidly about being a victim of cancel culture. He added that no one is safe from the damaging movement, so he urged people to stand for anyone facing the injustice system instead.

"It takes one sentence and there's no more ground, the carpet has been pulled. It's not just me that this has happened to, it's happened to a lot of people. This type of thing has happened to women, men. Sadly at a certain point they begin to think that it's normal. Or that it's them. When it's not," he said, as quoted by Deadline.

Depp is currently preparing ahead the defamation case he filed against Heard after the actress penned the damaging op-ed about being a victim of domestic violence.
